Angels from the Academy of Sacred Heart

Fifth-graders from the Academy of Sacred Heart visited the Harry Tompson Center on Friday, January 25, 2013.  On their "Fifth-grade Retreat", the visit by the class was to help raise their awareness and enlighten them on the issue of  homelessness in society today.  The class took a tour of the Harry Tompson Center and met some of our guests.  Thereafter, students were given the opportunity to ask HTC Executive Director, Don Thompson, questions.  Mr. Thompson enlightened the class on the day-to-day operations of the Harry Tompson Center and the amenities that are offered to the guests.  Prior to leaving, the "little angels" from the Academy of Scared Heart also provided HTC with a surprise!  The class brought hygienic products such as soap, toothpaste, razors, and deodorant to ensure that our guests' time at the HTC would be that much more comfortable!  "Our class needed this experience," said Campus Minister Sister Maureen Little, R.S.C.J.  "Them understanding homelessness only helps to bring them out of their shell and provides them with a clear view of something that is very prevelant in our society."
The Harry Tompson Center would like to personally thank the Academy of Sacred Heart for their visit and all the items they donated.  Your generosity is greatly appreciated!!
