Other Ways to Contribute

Ebay

Did you know you can support the Harry Tompson Center while you shop? Whether you are buying or selling, you can contribute to the important mission of ending homelessness. Follow the steps below to complete your donation:

Buying

1. Once you’ve signed in to Ebay, visit https://charity.ebay.com/search and search for the Harry Tompson Center. It should be the first option that comes up.

2. Click on it, and under our mission statement you’ll see a button that says ‘Add to My Favorites.’ Click on that, and the button should now say ‘My Favorite Charity.’

3. Go shopping! Once you’ve added something to your cart, proceed to checkout and scroll down to the bottom of the page. You’ll see a section that says ‘Donate to charity (optional),’ and under that you’ll see the Harry Tompson Center automatically selected.

4. You can select an amount to donate up to $25.00. The donation will be factored into your purchase total. Complete the checkout and you’re all done!

*Please Note: You can only have one Favorite Charity at a time. If you see an organization other than the HTC at checkout, you will need to go back to https://charity.ebay.com/search, search for the organization, and deselect it.

IRA Charitable Giving

Starting at age 70 ½, you can make Qualified Charitable Distributions from your IRA account. Here are some things to consider:

· You can donate part or all of your annual Required Minimum Distribution to avoid paying income taxes on it. In addition, you’ll receive tax breaks for donating.

· A donation must be made directly from the IRA custodian to the Harry Tompson Center. It cannot be distributed to an individual, including yourself, and then donated.

· Donations must be received by the HTC before December 31st in order for the donation to apply to that year’s taxes. For example, we must receive a donation by Dec. 31st, 2020 in order for the donation to count towards your 2020 taxes.

Making a charitable donation through an IRA account can help lower a tax bill and support our mission of ending homelessness. There are many caveats to donating through IRA’s, so ask your financial advisor about the best way to go about it. For more information, you can read this helpful article: https://money.usnews.com/money/retirement/iras/articles/how-to-donate-to-charity-from-your-ira

Employer Matching Program

Many employers offer matching programs. In its most typical form, you can donate to the Harry Tompson Center and your employer will match that donation, thereby doubling the amount that the HTC receives. Employer matching programs vary from company to company and are not available everywhere, so ask your employer about any matching programs available to you.

AmazonSmile

What if every time you shopped at Amazon, you contributed to the HTC at no extra cost? Well when you visit Amazon Smile, you can! Just follow these steps:
