HTC guest Jermaine celebrates his recent housing with staff members Emily and Kip. Jermaine was quoted in a recent article by NOLA.com about the dangers of living on the streets of New Orleans. The article is based on a new study about the 44 homeless people who passed away on the streets of New Orleans in 2016. The results of the study reveal that average age of death for these people was 47 years old. HTC colleague Mike Miller who is the Coordinator of Medical and Social Services for the New Orleans Police Department, HTC colleague and volunteer Robyn Burchfield with Emergency Medical Services, and Rachel Cheramie-Gagliano with the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office co-wrote the study. Executive Director Vicki Judice and HTC board member Dr. Peter DeBlieux are also quoted in the article.
