Our services

The Harry Tompson Center provides a wide range of services thanks to a dedicated staff and numerous volunteers. The Harry Tompson Center is located inside of the Rebuild Center at 1803 Gravier Street and is open Monday through Friday from 7:45am - 12:30pm. Our courtyard reopens from 1pm-2pm.

  • Hygiene Services

Hot showers, restrooms, and large basin sinks for grooming and washing up are just a few of the services we offer daily.

We supply guests with personal care items such as clean towels, soap, shampoo, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, and more.

  • Housing Navigation

HTC provides housing placement through their Rapid Rehousing for the Chronically Homeless program.

In our most recent reporting year, we were able to move 140 people into housing, and are working with countless others to provide support as they transition to permanent housing.

  • Case Management

Our case managers work 1:1 with guests to help them make sense of what community resources are available to them. Case managers act as liaisons between guests and service providers to help with shelter referrals, rehabilitation referrals, family reunification efforts, and other supportive outcomes.

  • Basic Medical Care

Our medical clinic is open on Tuesday mornings from 9-12; and is run by volunteer physicians and nurses. We focus on treating common ailments seen on the streets and help guide them towards their next steps.

We offer over-the-counter medicine, vitamins, first aid items, and are always trying to help our guests feel more comfortable.

  • Spiritual Care

Some of our incredible volunteers include priests, sisters, counselors, deacons, and others who dedicate their time to sitting with guests in prayer or helping them tend to their spiritual wellness.

  • VA CRRC

Our satellite location in the Veterans Administration Community Resource and Referral Center is located at 1530 Gravier St. and is open M-F 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

We work with the Veterans Administration, Travelers Aid Society, and other organizations to assist both unhoused veterans and non-veterans with day center services including showers, laundry, and case management.

  • Bike Program

We started our bike program in 2018 in an effort to help our guests with their transportation needs.

This educational program employs local experts who teach guests how to build and repair bicycles. At the end of the course, guests graduate with a bike of their own!

  • Personal Care Items

It is a frequent occurrence to see someone wearing shoes with the soles worn off or clothes that are soiled and ill-fitting.

We are always on the lookout for ways we can make our guests more comfortable.

Our amazing donors regularly contribute to our supply, allowing us to distribute personal care items as needed.

Check out our Amazon Wishlist to see what personal care items are most needed at the Center right now.

  • Haircuts

On the first Monday of every month, our team of volunteer stylists cut hair and trim beards for our guests at no cost.

Haircuts are offered first-come, first-serve and early arrival is encouraged (8am).

  • Library Cart

The free library cart is a popular staple in our Center. One guest told us that he’d read over 150 books since he started coming to HTC.

Books in the library cart are donated by our supporters and treasured by our guests.

  • Community Partners

The HTC supports the outreach efforts of local non-profit organizations.

Bridge House Grace House, Crescent Care, Grace at the Greenlight, and others regularly table in our Center and offer their services to our guests.

  • Support & Community

Many of our guests crave a space where they can share their experiences and feel supported by others.

Over the years, guests have organized group meetings to meet a diverse range of needs including addiction and recovery, Bible Study,  arts and craft and more.

We are proud to be a safe space wherein guests can find comfort.
